Adaptations and its likelihood

Let us talk about something that grinds our gears…

What I am talking about is…
                                   “Adaptations”
*queue horror music*

Yes, I am going there! NOT EVERY ADAPTATION IS BAD! Just kidding, a lot of them are anger inducing-gut wrenching awful!
It has reached to a point where we just watch it for the sake of watching it, we don’t expect anything that knock our socks off, though, unlike a lot of people, I actually didn’t mind some, here are a few that were hard to fathom though -I added one that I loved but I still wished they kept in a few details:

-----before reading any further, please do take caution, these points are full of spoilers, just saying…..do not tell me that I did not warn you, please continue-----

  • ·         King of Fighters: well well well…. Where to begin with this one *passes you some pop-corn*, Mai and Iori….dating …..HELLOOOOOO what happened to the OG couple “Mai & Andy”, Andy was annihilated completely from existence , I loved Maggie Q though, huge fan of hers <3

  •    Tekken: do not even get me started on this!! Jin, Jiiiiiinnnnnnn, urghhhhh….it is not even you that annoyed me, I loved you ….it was Christy!!! I love her but the movie ruined her for me!! She joined the Iron fist to go after Eddie Gordo, she does Capoeira styled fighting, and she didn’t show case any of those traits, her love interest was.... *drum roll* JIN!! NO! I DO NOT BUY IT! JIN xASUKA or XIAYOU!! end of story... On to Nina, she is technically a mother, Steve looks older than her and she looks like she is a young sugar baby, what is her secret?? (cause I would like to look that good, hotdamnn) plus, I know I am not supposed to promote sibling conflict AND I DO NOT CONDONE IT, BUT NINA DOES NOT GET ALONG WITH ANNA!

  • ·         Harry Potter: I am not even going to delve into this, so many missing details, so many missing characters, missing awesome moments…..so….much……oh god *cries in the corner* in this case, I am talking about book to movie ... i was so excited for some characters and was kinda sad to not see them... but overall it was a nice one, I loved it, some details that i imagined were made down to the T in the movie :) 10/10 would marathon it!

  • ·         Assassin’s Creed: actually what they did was pretty smart, but I am just being salty because I was hoping to see Desmond, I actually liked the Animus though, made me want to try it.

  • ·         Dragon Ball: one word……whitewashed …. But that’s another story, for another post….

  • ·         The Last Airbender…Look at Dragon Ball point.

  • ·         Black Butler / Kuroshitsuji: im a huge fan of Hiro (portrayed the role of Seby-chan *swoon swoon*) but this movie was a bit disappointing, the whole premise revolved around the “descendant” of the Phantomhive family –well, I guess Seby is their demon butler forever, I remember reading something about it being an easy way to explain the whole English bloodline and stuff, missing characters, the main character is a girl, cause it is easier to get girls and they get dressed up as little boys, literally a cinematic trick –also done with voice acting.

Now please ignore all what I just said and sit back, chill and just enjoy the movie, adaptations are called that, because they do not follow what is given to them, but re-sculpture the given article and reproduce a new path, which has its own beauty.
It is indeed a bit heart breaking when you wish to see a carbon copy of your favorite game, movie, comic or anime materialized into a 3D project, but we also got to cut them some slack, they are on a budget anyway.
I guess I am done ranting, I have a lot more complaints up my sleeve, I have a talent of running my mouth *wink* and complaining, excuse me hehe.

How about you, mention down below what adaptation was ruined for you and if there was one that you actually liked, or an element in a movie that you actually like.
Plus one tip you would give an adaptive individual?
(Mine would be, watch the movie …then read the book)
